I have lived all over the United States, and have seen high school football in Pennsylvania, Florida, Texas, Louisiana, Wisconsin, Oregon and Montana. San Diego County High School’s can “play ball” with any team from any of those football rich states. We have olympic calibre swimmers and divers, basketball programs that produce major college material. We have a lot to be proud of here, and i want to hear from you. The big question “circling” the prep sports scene is “why can’t we keep our athletes home to play at SDSU, USD, even UCSD? Let me hear from you. It”s time to keep our kids “home,” rather than stocking college rosters from L.A. to Arizona and all points beyond.
Hey, All You Young Athletes Out There—Why Not Stay Home For College And Help The Local Universities???
•May 14, 2012 • 2 CommentsWhatever Happened to the PADRES?
•May 14, 2012 • Leave a CommentI will never forget how much John Moores and his Right Hand “Lacky,” Larry Lucchino, worked the Media and fans of San Diego to get a new ballpark. I “smelled a rat” early on this one. Lucchino, with Moores blessing, made promises they would only temporarily keep. They promised a championship ballclub..They gave us one, that was close, and for a couple of seasons. Then, they closed their pockets and bank accounts and the result is what we are left with. I firmly believe the Sanctimonious Moores deliberately sold the club to Jeff Moorad, knowing he would never get the club because of his “reputation” as an agent and his dealings with some of the owners. Moores, who was “forced to sell” the Padres because of his divorce, is now back holding the purse strings of a Club that has significantly increrased in value since he “sold” to Moorad.
Moores comes off as a nice guy, but his business dealings are painting him as very different person. John Moores plan wasn’t to own the Padres long-term. Moores, all along, wanted the Real Estate around Petco Park—-THE EAST VILLAGE. I’d be curious to know how much real estate JMI Realty has purchased outright, or partnered on, in the East Village area around Petco Park.
The best thing that can happen to the Padres is selling the club immediately..Get Moores out of the Baseball business in San Diego and get an owner (s) in here that will spend some money on the talent that will bring San Diego’s starved fans something worth paying to see. It’s “put up or shut up time” for the Padres. For the past 10 years San Diego’s fans have been dooped…it’s time to give them what they deserve—a contender!
